Future Creators

Drax is at the forefront of changing the way energy is generated, supplied & used as the UK moves to a low carbon future.  The group engaged us to design & deliver their ‘Future Creators’ programme to prepare their talent to lead the organisation towards their 2030 goals.

Deliverables

  • Two day training event (delivered 3 times per year)
  • Design, develop & facilitate workshops consisting of a series of teaching, peer-to-peer learning & actor led business simulations
  • Assess & benchmark the delegates performance against the Drax leadership capabilities
  • Provide each delegate with a personal development plan

Overview

The need for leadership development has never been more urgent. All firms realise that to survive in today’s volatile, uncertain, complex, & ambiguous environment, they need leadership skills & organisational capabilities different from those that helped them succeed in the past. The goal was to create a programme that combined science, real world experience, peer-to-peer learning & live business simulations to make the learning experience as tangible as possible.

Workshops

Partnering with L&D we designed & delivered eight 120-minute workshops that explored each of the Drax leadership capabilities.  The framework that was utilised to underpin the workshop design was:

  • Actor-led business simulations
  • Tangible strategies to action
  • Pause & reflection

Business simulations

The delegates where engaged in a number of business simulations throughout the two days.  The simulations where designed according to a fictitious scenario within an organisational setting. It is within this scenario that simulations play out. The scenario was developed to replicate the key context within which the delegates will be leading (whilst also providing a novel setting, to prevent participants from relying on their real life knowledge of Drax).
